- I am interested in moonlighting in IT; specifically in client server
- implementations and programming projects in Visual C++ and Visual Basic.
-
- I am currently a finacial analyst with a manufacturer in Phoenix AZ
- and am in the 60k salary range. I have a bachelors in finance-accounting
- and will complete my masters in December with a major in International
- business with a minor in information systems.
-
- In December I became a certified Microsoft Solution Developer and have
- about 4 years experience with Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Financials and other
- varied IT skills. I have actually had a dual career in some respects the
- last 2 years in that I have implemented a client server environment and
- data warehouse at my curent employer and wrote a fair share of Visual C++
- front end at my previous employer.
-
- My question is...how does someone at my level approach firms to
- moonlight in client server or programming. I am not interested in giving up
-
- my hard earned salary and experience in finance right now...but need to
- position myself for 1998 when i plan to go
- full time into client server - finance systems and programming.
- The problem I have had to date is that a lot of IT managers do not look
- beyond my core career (finance) and dont read about all the
- systems skills I have.
-
- Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
